November 16, 2014

November 16, 2014: What is this day going to be called, on the history of Okinawa prefecture, Japan? Is Okinawa, indeed, going to remain Japanese? This day will be surely remembered as a fateful, decisive day, because, on this day, we Okinawans chose to elect an outrageous person as our prefectural governor, and now, it’s a dire possibility that this person will sell out this beautiful island to Communist China. Just thinking about this will run a cold shudder through my spine.

“Ha, ha, that’s a pure fantasy!” You might say. But China has been painstakingly making preparations for annexing Okinawa over decades, and election of this person is a finishing touch of their plan.

China infiltrated Okinawan media and educational circles, proliferated the story “Okinawans are suffering under severe repression from Japan” and tried to imprint this to generations of people in Okinawa. In the shadow of “Okinawan dialect renaissance”, there are also vicious figure of Chinese operatives. Their aim is distancing Okinawa from Japan and positioning it as a once “independent” state, which in reality was a vassal state of China. Eventually, China will do everything through politicians like newly elected governor, to make Okinawa as an “independent” nation, and then after that, with excuses like protection of Okinawa from Japan and the United States or protection of Chinese nationals staying here in Okinawa, and annex it as a Chinese territory.

As if breaking the road to this, newly elected governor has been planning to build a set of “Dragon Pillars” that shows Naha harbor as a traditional symbol of a vassal state of China. In an expression of utmost servility, he virtually offers Okinawa, a legitimate part of Japan, to China as a subordinate state.

China is spending huge money and sending in a large number of operatives to stir up the feud over the deployment of Osprey. Needless to say stopping Osprey means removal of yet another obstacle against China’s expansion.

Now with so far mentioned backdrop, a dangerously China leaned politician got elected and became the governor of Okinawa, what should we do or can do about all of this?
United nations will not help. Rather, by the hand of China, a permanent member of the UN, a motion of making Okinawa an independent state is going to be put out in security council. The U.S., European countries which are self-proclaiming “Human rights sensitive” will never veto. Russia which annexed Crimea will also follow suit.

What we can do should start from the local level. Calling on your diet member and tell him you’re not happy about what’s going on with China.
Also effective is hitting the street and making our case against for example, Dragon pillars and every other plan we find obnoxious and anti-Japan. Making ourselves “visible opposition” against the leftwing governor and his pro-China scheme, because Okinawan media don’t report anything against China or leftists anyway.

It’s been 59 days so far, since we started our street speeches. We are looking for a few good people who can do the same. With your help, perhaps, we can make November 16, 2014 not the fatal day. Rather it should be marked as the fateful day when our resistance against China’s secret war finally started in Okinawa.
